Color Shock

I know that it's not actually spring yet but in yesterday it was 85 degrees and staying warm. I have spring on the mind.

So since I was dressing for warmth, I started to think about what it was that I wanted to wear this spring. Colors popped into my mind, some that I've been obsessed with for a bit already and some that I know I need to be on the look out for from now on.

What better spring color than mint? It's light, airy and just plain adorable. As of now, I own a pair of minty taupe suede maryjanes and a mint blazer (posted earlier). My nails are mint as I type and I just want my life to be in mint right now!

Camel/Beige/Caramel

This neutral is such a perfect color for spring. It's light, but still wintry. It makes a good base to any outfit. The shoes are the best part for me. I love brown shoes and those chelseas have been calling my name for months. I had wanted black but now these own my heart. Unfortunately, the only camel colored item in my wardrobe is a big overcoat, not very spring.

White

What's more spring than crochet? Even though white is great for any season, these specific items called my name. The long sleeves in white are thin enough to work for a cooler spring day. Also, any colored bottom looks perfect with a white top. And I may try to rock a hat this year (but my head looks odd in hats, sigh).

Corals

It started with coral lipstick and now I'm in love. I bought a pair of high waisted cord shorts from Topshop in Chicago (which look perfect in a white top, as mentioned above). I'll post a look with them soon. But this makes for a nice accessories color, nails, or shoes.

(All of these collages were made on polyvore and can be found on my profile)

I guess the gist of it is that light colors and more pastel colors are going to be the color of my spring (and probably my summer since camp means limited shopping... very limited). I've always loved lighter colors, and I'm really looking forward to sporting them.
But we'll see if I can find/remember to find these colors.

Clothes porn

Warning: This is a long inspo post, but well worth a look.

We all have those styles we flock to like birds. The ones we see in magazines and on the streets that we absolutely adore. Sometimes it gets to the point where all our shopping is done around those items: how can I look like that? How can I make it my own? What more can I do with this?

Currently I am obsessed with a few types of clothing: Shoes (omg, shoes), anything velvet, that basic casual I can never find the clothes to pull it off with, and, of course, collars.

I'll start with collared. I'm in love with this look, being a french girl by association, and especially layering with collars.

(I know they're boys but those colors! Oh, the colors!)

Collar, under sweater, under a coat... *brb dying*

I need these in my closet for summer!!!

Next, how can we ignore the beautiful comeback from the 90s: velvet. Fun fact: My prom dress was velvet. I wish I could own so much more velvet than I do but I never know what to pair it with! I had to stop myself from buying a bell sleeved black velvet top (which will haunt me forever) because I have absolutely nothing to wear it with... So instead, I look at pictures online:

(I love this whole outfit, not just the shorts)

(Mix of collared and velvet!)

Then there's that style that has eluded me for years: the basics. I've never found that white shirt that hangs loosely but perfectly, that goes with any jeans ever. I've never been good at doing basic right, and I always end up looking all too normal in tight jeans and a top. Anything casual and simple is apparently beyond my fashion abilities.

Let's end this post with a little appreciate for shoes:

Well that's all for now (and it's quite a lot). I havent been posting because I only have time to wear nice clothes during the weekends. To top it off, I like to shoot during the day to get good lighting and my sissy-poo, my fearless photographer, tends to be away. I was going to shoot a few of my new looks the other day but I ended up feeling sick. To boot, I don't have a real camera, so when I fix that we'll be getting down to business with a lot more posts (and more variety, not just me).

I hope 2012 has been treating you well.

Love,
